Art only fulfills its mission if it is shared beyond the theater. Viewing a dance concert or performance should not be an act available only to the elite. Our purpose is to enter communities and share ideas the only way we know how, through movement. Through a collaborative effort, we have been able to reach out to locals to listen and learn their stories. In return, we create movement based on the information and share it in the form of site-specific improvisations as well as structured formal concerts. This is important to us because Milwaukee has not always been portrayed positively by the media. Media, analytical data, or statistics don’t define individuals. We seek to transform these perceptions by providing individuals the opportunity to define themselves.  Our creative perspective gives us a unique approach to this ethnographic study. We hope to make personal connections and express our gratitude as we share our movement informing and engaging with larger audiences.
